Mary Sumner House is a Grade II listed venue on Tufton Street in Westminster, a short walk from the Houses of Parliament. The building has nine spaces suited to focused, structured events, including conferences and AGMs for up to 120, boardroom meetings, training days, and private interviews for as few as six. Every room is named after a woman who changed history, and every booking directly supports the work of Mothers’ Union.

The smallest seats six for a private discussion or interview; the largest accommodates 24 in a boardroom arrangement. However you want to use the space, we can arrange the room and furniture to suit your needs.

Every room includes a wall-mounted display screen. Tea, coffee, and biscuits can be arranged at £6 per person.

Mary Sumner House sits in Westminster for a reason, and the address carries weight for stakeholder meetings and formal decision-making.

Several rooms are set up in the boardroom layout, from the Queen Elizabeth II room with its glass chandelier, feature fireplace, and dedicated boardroom table for up to 16, to the Rosa Parks Room and Mary Sumner Room, each seating up to 24.

For larger AGMs, the Conference Hall accommodates up to 48 in a boardroom format or 120 in theatre seating, with a full PA system included.

The Conference Hall is the room that lends weight to an occasion. With its high ceilings, herringbone parquet, chandelier lighting and space for 120 delegates in theatre arrangement, it has the kind of proportions that make large group work feel appropriate, not cramped.

A projector, screen and PA system are included in the hire. Additional AV packages, including video conferencing equipment and multiple microphone setups, are available if you’re hosting hybrid events or panel discussions. External caterers can be arranged to suit your format; we can recommend suppliers that know the venue if needed.

Smaller rooms on the floors above work well as breakout spaces alongside a main conference, each fitted with its own display screen and capacity for 6 to 36.

Mary Sumner House is the home of Mothers’ Union, a women-led charity working in 84 countries.

We understand what it means to spend carefully, to justify every line of budget spend, and to want a venue that reflects your values as clearly as your work does. Registered charities receive a tiered discounted rate on room hire based on annual income, and no VAT is charged on room hire.

For organisations in the charity sector, it is a decision you can account for, one charity supporting another, in a building that has stood for that purpose for nearly a century.

Choosing a venue is rarely just about the room. It is about how the day runs, how it is received, and how it reflects on the person organising it. Mary Sumner House offers something straightforward: a venue that does what it is supposed to do, without distraction, and stands up well when the decision behind it is looked at more closely.

Mary Sumner House was built in 1925 and has been in continuous use since. The rooms are named after women who changed history and the detail is part of the experience rather than decoration. The stained-glass windows in the Mary Sumner Room bear the arms of the Irish provinces, placed in memory of the 49,435 Irish soldiers who died in the First World War. It is the kind of setting that delegates tend to notice.

We are minutes from Parliament, with Victoria, Westminster, and St James’s Park Underground stations all within a short walk. Mainline connections at Victoria, Waterloo, and Charing Cross are nearby for delegates travelling from across the UK.

If you are planning a meeting or event, come and take a look. A short visit will give you a clear sense of how the space works in practice.
